Local dongle memory update presumes reprogramming of memory of the dongle connected to the computer running the Developer’s Kit.

In order to update the dongle memory, execute menu command Dongle | Dongle Update or Dongle | Write. Whereas, the former will be available only if a dongle dump but not a template or mask file is used.

Specifics of local update methods:

Update methodDescription of specifics
Dongle | Update Dongle command

This method is available only during dump-based updates.

It allows selecting the update type: complete rewrite or alteration of contents of selected fields

Dongle | Write commandRewrites entire contents of the dongle memory with the current mask data

Local update using Dongle | Update dongle command

The practical necessity for local update by means of Dongle | Dongle Update command occurs when you need to save the work-in-progress (algorithm counters for instance) into the dongle, i.e. perform the altertion of selected fields’ contents leaving other fields intact. In other events, it would be easier to edit the data of the required dump or mask template and execute command Dongle | Write.

After executing Dongle | Dongle Update command menu, the Dongle Memory Update dialog will appear on the screen. This dialog starts a Dongle Memory Update Wizard containing several pages. Use [Next >] and [< Back] buttons located in the bottom of the wizard to switch between pages.

Select option Dongle is connected to the local computer and move to the next page.

Update Type page will appear on the screen featuring several options for update method. The specific set of available options depends on the dongle type.

Select the required update option and push the [Next >]. The following several pages serve for setting the update parameters and working with the scenario editor. For more information on each update option see the Update Type section below.

The last page of the local update dialog called Result shows the operation result message.

Clicking [Done] completes the update procedure and GrdUtil.exe records the fact of programming the local dongle into the database.
