Software Installation Variants
1) From the product website:
Guardant SDK is available for free downloading from Aktiv Company website: http://www.guardant.com/support/download/sdk/
Download and unpack the Guardant SDK archive, than Launch GuardantSDK_7_0.msi.
2) Then, follow the installation wizard’s instructions to perform the following:
- Define the folders for installing the Guardant software and installation options
- Enter access codes and the check number (in case of demo Developer’s Kit simply click the [Demo] button to enter codes automatically)
Important information
While installing the Developer’s Kit, enter the Public Code in symbol format and other codes in hexadecimal format (shown in bold).
- Click the [Install] button and follow the installation wizard instructions
- Restart the operating system after installing the software
In the process of installing the software onto your hard disk the file named NvCodes.dat will be created in the working directory of Guardant software containing the information on access codes of the dongle. This file is required for the operation of the automatic protection utilities and for dongle programming, except for remote programming utilities designated for the use by the end-users.
Important information
File NvCodes.dat is required only by the Guardant software utilities used by the developer. Neither the protected application nor any other utilities designated for the end-users need this file. Under no circumstances the NvCodes.dat file shall be disclosed to unauthorized persons or organizations.
Also in the process of running the GuardantSDK_7_0.msi file the Guardant drivers will be installed into the system. Dongles require the drivers for operation.
Important information
- During the installation of drivers all applications must be closed to avoid file sharing errors.
- A user must have administrator rights; otherwise the drivers will not be installed.
Upon completion of the installation process of the software a new item Guardant SDK 7 will appear in the Program section of the Start menu.
In order to perform most of the actions with the dongles select the utilities in the respective program group or from the Guardant SDK 7 shell.
The Guardant SDK serves as the fast access shell to the most frequently used elements of the Guardant software package.
Software Updates
In order to increase the security level of software applications, gain new ways of protection and prevent possible software/hardware conflicts you need to update the Guardant software on a regular basis.
Perform the following actions in order to update the Guardant software:
- Unpack the Guardant SDK archive
- Launch GuardantSDK_7_0.msi
- Choose the installation directory
- Click the [Install] button and follow the wizard instructions
- After successful installation, restart the operation system
Installation of a USB dongle
- Install the dongle driver (see Section Guardant Drivers)
- Plug the dongle to USB port
- LED lighting indicates on-line status of the dongle (driver is installed correctly; dongle circuit is working properly; dongle is recognized by operating system).
